arowana flooring Dirty surface

Hi All, i ve two 6 sump tanks; set up 2 5 mths ago - media- rods, rings, coral chunks, purigen active carbon. Recently, i noticed that the surface seemed dirty that the water bubbles dun popped that readily anymore. I do 20% wc every 2 days 50 % wc weekly. The filters r thrown away after every wc change. Fishes look eating ok - live feeder pellet. I ve wavemakers on top bottom of tanks. Pls advise on how to eliminate this eyesore. TQVM, Dan.

I think there are few factors which you can zoom into
1) you need to look at the placement of the media(the arrangement) for CR and biohome i prefer to have them tightly pack together to force water to flow through them
2) Number of fishes to water ratio.
3)Number of feeding. If after feeding, you see those bubbles, its a pretty common phenomenon especially with monster fishes but the bubble should go away in 30 mins time.
4) Is your PH too low / high to cultivate BB
5) Add BB into the tank
>Perhaps you can consider adding air bubbles in the media compartments.
Increase BB does help too.
cheers

TQ, Bro alanng.
I dun understand..
1. adding air bubble into media compartment; as in putting in an aerator?
2. Increase BB as in adding in?
TQ, Dan

Please see my set of questions try to answer as best as you can. Better still, a clear video of tank with water surface going towards the overflow chamber, water outlet, where your wave makers are place would be best.
1) How old is your 1264? For 6ft its ideal. I have friends using 1262 for 6ft even better
2) The outlet pipe from pump to tank, what direction is it facing?
3) The outlet pipe from pump to tank, what position is it at? High up near water surface or low down near tank base?
4) Wave makers X 2 one on top the other bottom. This 2 wave maker same flow rate?
5) Whats the size of your sump?
Please try to answer those questions Ive stated and also very importantly provide visual aids else very hard to zero in
First tip for a start, turn off all your wave makers.
I know you will see poo build up at tank base but just bear with it for a day.
If the dirty surface known as PROTEIN LAYER still does not clear, well have to do things one step at a time
>Kamsia Kamsia many many, Bro HaoHaoRao... At work now. Will take note try to send everything tonight cos must clear all job for this wkend.... Remember, all kopi or ur preferred poison on me... TQVM
>Bro HaoHaoRao... Protein layer gone after i shifted the outlets wavemakers position. TQVM, Dan.
>My current setup I placed 1 wave maker at top level and the other at the bottom. Solves protein layer problem
